Text: Philippians 3:12-16

College graduate - no skill, no goal, no vision! Achievement but no fulfillment

As a Christian, seeker of God, there’s achievement, but is there fulfillment?

What’s your goal in life? Live for the weekend! Payday! Retirement! Happy, most toys

God - Your creator, your Father has a goal, a vision for your life! One problem - You have to catch it!

Set your sights and catch your God given vision! How?

1) Stay grounded

V12 - Not that I have already obtained - The grounded are self-aware

Mentally and emotionally stable: sensible, realistic, and unpretentious - I’m not finished yet!

Why does Davy Crockett lick his gun sight? To cut down glare and haze - What are the glares?

Peter out of the boat - The haze of doubt - But what happened when they got back in the boat?

Story of Florence Chadwick - point - stay grounded! Keep out the haze!

Live with expectations, assurance, and faith - Unless there is an element of risk in our exploits for God, there is no need for faith. Hudson Taylor - God’s word applied!

How do you set your sights to catch God’s vision?

2) Stay motivated

”But I press on to take hold” - Paul wants to grasp it all!

Enigmatic statement? The Savior reached down for me! Now I reach for all he has for me!

Want to - discover the bought back life, the redeemed life, the saved life

Chasing chickens? Catching the promises one by one will train you, strengthen you to catch God’s vision!

”The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.” - Helen Keller

Set your sights on taking hold of it all!

Conclusion

Are your sights skewed? What is your goal in life? You can achieve much, but are you fulfilled? God has a vision for you! A fulfilling and wonderful plan!

”For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Set your sights to catch the vision! Grounded and motivated -fulfilled!
