Text: Philippians 3:1-3
Joy is elusive! Why?
Rejoice in the Lord!
How can we come to this place where we know we are living in joy?
1) Make Jesus your look-out post!
V1 - ”. . . in the Lord”
A) Joy starts with location! In Christ! What it means? By faith!
Story of being cut from team - You make the cut in Jesus!
B) Your outlook on life ought to change! Forgiven! Alive! Hope! Purpose!
C) Be on the look-out for cutters - V2 - ”beware . . .” Why there is no joy? Legalized grace!
Those people that want to merchandise Jesus
2) Remember you come from Whoville!
V3 - We are peculiar people! We have been cut out by God!
A) Circumcision - Galatians 6:15 - Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation. The mark of heaven!
B) Worshippers - Romans 14:17 - For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit - Kingdom people!
C) Rejoicers - Look what Jesus has done for me! Passionate!
D) Confidence! ”With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles." Believe God is with you! ”Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Conclusion
Living a life of me-ology? Or a life of joy! Where are you today?
You have made the cut! You are cut out! 1Thess 5:16 - Rejoice always
