Text: Philippians 2:25-30
Asst. Surgeon Bernard Irwin story – Point - All were honorable! Conduct, integrity, unity, “Honor ran deep that day!” Imagine the celebration!
Are you honorable? In general? In God’s eyes?
”The Lord says: ‘These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.’” - Isaiah 29:13
God - Gives us an example of honor that runs deep
Thesis: Epaphroditus is an example where honor runs deep.
How do I have honor that runs deep?
1) Be a hero for help
V25 - Epap is a hero for help! His courage - his devotion - Look how Paul describes him! His different hats!
Start a hat collection! One of the five ministries at OHC - serving in this body for the glory of God. Weekend services – missions – small groups – youth – children
Where is help needed? Look around and be the hero for help!
Truth - There is no easy button! A hero for help will go in blizzards, undermanned, out gunned, but will go with honor and courage!
Truth - By making yourself of no value you will become valuable! Phil 2:7
I’m ready to help! To seek and to save, to serve as a ransom for many!
When you enter a room full of people, is there a cause for retaliation, investigation, instigation, denigration, degradation, adoration, affirmation, disputation, provocation, representation? Where honor runs deep, there’s a cause for celebration!
2) Have a heart for home
V26-30 - He cared about them! Passionate for Home! Longed
Testimony of what God has done - His mercy
Cheyenne Stull - OHC is home! Where my people are! Where my passion is shared
Denny’s ordination - Thanks for those who went before! Legacy is born!
Conclusion
Jesus has died so you may live! A new heart, a new hope, have honor that runs deep!
