Text: Luke 11:27-28I’m blessed rather! Does that go all over you?
Can you say, “I’m blessed rather?” What does it mean? Being Happy? Having God’s favor - experiencing divine fortune? God makes the way for you to live blessed rather!
Jesus encourages us to live “blessed rather!” Q: How?
1) Believe that you are blessed!
V28 -Yes, Mary was blessed! She had received God’s favor - She had willingly accepted her call - You are blessed, too when you accept Christ! Your call - Eph 2:10 - Genesis-12:1-3 - God’s promise is clear! He has a plan - he has a purpose, he will not let you go it alone! First and foremost - believe that you are blessed! God’s divine favor is over you!
Yet this is not where it ends but where it begins
2) Be in position to be blessed
V28 - Hear the word! Faith comes when you hear! To hear - To consider - to learn - to comprehend
Requires you to set priorities - What really does it mean to be blessed? Where are your priorities? What’s that you are seeking? “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God . . .” Positioning - This is how you will be ready to see where God is working! Psalm 1
Sit, soak, and sour - hearing is not the finish but just the start!
3) Practice the words that bless
God’s ways are contrary to the world - The beatitudesPut his word to practice - Luke 8:21 - Do what he teaches - John 13:17 - Keep – obey – guard
2 Timothy 3:16 - Practice! Baseball drills - Do them ‘til you get it down - Apply - practice what you preach!
Conclusion
Guy at Pricecutter in shorts during ice storm - “All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” Truth - our view of life and our values are always on public display! Are you blessed rather? Born again? Learning the word, and putting it to practice? You will discover the blessed life!
God’s grace, favor, power, strength.
