Text: Luke 10:38-42

Mom’s roast beef - sometimes life is like this - looks good, hard to chew!

You - Felt like you’ve bitten off more than you can chew? Overburdened - underjoyed?

God wants to give you rest! Why Jesus came? To serve! To give you life!

Keep the great commitment and live overjoyed and under burdened! What’s the great commitment? To be served by Jesus!! Rest instead of stress

HOW?

1) - Know stress will get the better of you

Martha was stressed out!

A) Opened - Martha is doing good and right! Yet she is overwhelmed-Be selective - How will this be a blessing?

B) Distracted - "out to lunch" - couldn’t focus or think - Timing a Thanksgiving meal!!

Overloaded!! Circuits blow - spiritual ADD

C) Left me - Blame God! Accuse others - this is where bitterness grows!

What am I, chopped liver? God was working way ahead of me! Rest in Jesus - let Him serve you!

Busy-ness gets the better of you! He who answers before listening; that is his folly and his shame. Jesus can’t get through to serve you because you are stressed out

"It’s not what we offer Jesus but what he offers us!"

2) Choose the better course

Mary’s choice? The better! She came to the table of Jesus!

A) Leave - V40 - chose courage! Choose Jesus over sister! Peer pressure - It is an individual choice you must make. Will you choose Jesus first?

B) Listen - V39 - active - listening! Expectation! Application! How? Worship! Song at the feet of Jesus – How - Church is not an option! God gave His blood for it! Bath vs. shower -Psalm 138 - Jesus will serve you! DLF - new class starting - make a fresh start! Devotional - gets Gods word in your heart!

Conclusion

Today at OHC - You’ve been served! With grace, mercy - in trials, sufferings, tests, you will discover rest and rise up serving the King like he served you! God is faithful! God is good! God is worthy of our unyielding and undying commitment!

"It is in serving I’m blessed and will bless.”
