Text: Luke 5:1-11
Time! How fast it goes by! Thinking about my lifetime timeline.
Where are you on the lifetime timeline? Have you experienced the LIFE more abundant?
Facts – Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death ages 15-24- - 1/6 of high school kids thought about it - 1/12 attempted it - 1/8 are lonely - ¼- feel unfulfilled - ½-stressed out
Truth - people know about Jesus but have they found life?
God - You can live a lifetime of life! How? Decide who is Jesus!
1) Serve Jesus with your stuff!
V1-3 - where’s Peter coming from? Multitudes of Americans are on the shoreline. How does your boat become a lifeboat? Willingness to serve the Teacher!
How do we serve - A) Help keep Jesus where he can be heard! Peter’s stuff was available!
Is our stuff available to the teacher? You get the best seat! Willingness!
His willingness put him in position for the Teacher to teach!
2) Let Jesus lead you to the honey hole!
V4-7 - Peter knew better! Yet Jesus was an Authority to him.
It’s no use - can’t reconcile - won’t change - Jesus will guide you to the "Honey hole." Do what he says because he says so!
His boat was over-blessed! His trust blessed others! His life was impacting others!
Imagine the scene! Shore, etc - What is trust? Obedience in action! It may look impossible but Jesus says so!
A lifetime of life! More abundant - cup runneth over?
3) See the reality of life!
V8-11 -What did Peter see? He saw himself - Sinful man - A life off course! He saw Jesus! LORD! Almighty! True! Real!
When they saw all this they were "astonished" - Like 9/11 - asking now what! My life is off course! Now what? Jesus had captured their attention, devotion, and confession!
Now he was going to give them a life that impacts eternity!
"Catch men"
There is capture one way or the other - 2 Timothy 2:26
Conclusion
Don’t miss your boat! Serve Jesus with your stuff! Let Jesus lead your life to the honey hole! See the reality of life! Decide who Jesus is today and you will begin to live a lifetime of life! Jesus teaching, guiding and encouraging! A life of meaning, purpose, and impact! When you look at the timeline of your lifetime there won’t be regret but joy! There won’t be despair but hope! There will be love, peace, and passion! Choose life!
