Text: Ephesians 6:5-9
Legacy - God gives opportunity for his people to see their crowning achievement! Kingdom workers bring grace to the workplace! How?
1) Put your heart into your work
V5-6 - “doing the will …” - his good, pleasing and perfect will. Expressed devotion - words “as”, “like” - a slave to Christ! I express my devotion to Jesus by my obedience to the boss! Respect position -and serve the mission - V6 - We win credibility! Checking papers - here to do a job! God’s will is for me to do it as a slave to Christ! People whose hearts were not in it? Stealing, cheating, lying? Kingdom workers know righteousness! Put your heart into your work then you will see your crowning achievement! A heart won by Christ will win the favor of man - Impacting - influencing
The bottom line - companies serve that completely
2) Hold to the bottom line
V7-8 - You are working for Jesus! Serving His good! His grace! “You know” the return of your efforts are great!! The bottom line for a Kingdom worker is work for the good of God! You will be supported by God’s grace to impart grace!
Do good! - excellence - best - pleasing God! The good system vs. the merit system! James 4:4-6 - God will bless you! Example - preparation - know the job because you had to do the dirtiest work! You reap what you sow - Eph. 2:10 - The joy of the Lord will be evident and you will have impact! Hold to the bottom line then you will see your crowning achievement!
Me as manager - being Christian!
3) Show what you know
V9 - Do what workers do plus - Jesus is King - Showed no partiality - died for all! Matthew 5:43-48 - A) Never threaten - firing, faith - B) No preferential treatment - golden boy! Be like Boaz - “Just then Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters, ‘The LORD be with you!’ ‘The LORD bless you!’ they called back.”
You Know: The job, the workers, the Master! What kind of workplace could this be! Show what you know then you will see your crowning achievement!
Conclusion
Retirement - party - back to work! The beat goes on! Key? What legacy have you left? Grace or grief? How will you be remembered? What was your crowning achievement? A kingdom worker’s crowning achievement is leaving grace in the workplace! Perhaps someone will pick it up?! What if…….?
