Text: Luke 23:32-49
How we kill our testimony - have you seen or heard this? God executed the Gospel on the cross so heaven would be revealed! How are you executing the gospel? The way Jesus executed the Gospel brings heavenly revelation. How should we execute the Gospel?
1) Pray (Forgiveness)
V34 - Jesus even in great suffering thinks of others! He is expressing “The heart of heaven.”
Why else did God send His son? God’s love - the desire to offer forgiveness - Mercy and Grace!
How are you executing heaven’s heart?
- What comes out when stressed?
- Do you consider the state of others?
Is there a spirit of grudge holding or forgiveness? 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 - are you executing the heart of the Gospel?
2) Believe (Jesus)
V41-42 - My favorite verse - Under a death sentence - two attitudes – temporal, eternal - “The hope of heaven.” For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Believe you have heaven’s hope! Salvation! You will live with a confidence even under the death sentence - Turning to Jesus – realizing, repenting, believing
- He is innocent - the payment for sin! Our righteousness!
- He is King! He will reign! Ancient of Days! Call on Him!
- He will take you home! Mansion! The times people pass on - Jesus’s presence
His word is good enough! V43 - What the repentant criminal thought - HOPE!!
3) Trust (God)
V46 - Jesus fully trusted God to his last breath!! He willingly faced death knowing that God was not done yet! “The hand of heaven”
Place your life in God’s hand! Trust Him to your last breath! Psalm 18:35-37, 23-24, 118:14
How is the Gospel executed? Who do you trust?
- Commit - how the new church culture detests this word commit! Jesus did what he was to do, now the rest was up up God!
- Depend - He will come through! Trust in the Hand of Heaven!
Conclusion
Many types of execution – every day we have the opportunity to execute the gospel! Heaven can be revealed by your life!
