Text: 1 Peter 4:10
Guns of Ticonderoga - You can be the turning point! There is a siege! Your gift of grace can break the siege! How?
1) Get in service
A) You are gifted! You are God’s gift!! Charisma!!
B) You are to use it! What is it? Discover shape! Car under cover!
Commit four weeks! Give God a chance. You can break the siege.
C) Serve others - why we see sieges? Cultural gifted vs. spiritual gifted
”You reap who you serve” - people being saved. Three types of believers: beat down, puffed up, going out.
God has invested in you a great gift! You are to invest in others!
Our Lord Jesus: “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave, just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
OHC is going to be different. God wants us to be true followers of Jesus Christ! He has a process for making disciples. Do you want to be the tipping point? The siege breaker, the life changing agent? Get in service!
2) Stay in Service
”Faithfully administer” - be a good steward
We are to be faithful managers of the grace God has given.
A) Grace – Charis - its vast and extensive
Why are good Christians often out of service?
Car wash dollar bill changer - gas pumps - candy machine - aggravating! How must God feel when he sees His gifted ones out of service?
How’s your checkbook managed? Car maintenanced? Often it is hard to keep up with these things. Over burdened? Procrastinating?
How do you stay in service? You’ve found your shape
A) Do what only you can do! Henry Knox again-His perseverance was found in his passion!
B) Stick with the basics. Henry had a goal - break the siege - goal to survive
The basics? Relational over cultural! Love God more than anything!
Real satisfaction is found when you do what only you can do!! God’s grace is abundant and free!
Actions – baptism, tithing - Stay in service!! Manage the grace!
Conclusion
Imagine the scene - a groundswell of hope! “The guns of Ticonderoga are coming!” George Washington wrote, “Now I began to work harder than ever!”
What if there was a groundswell of grace? The grace of God is coming! That’s said when they see you! The siege will be broken and victory won!
