The Living History of a Living Faith
Text: Luke 17:11-19
We all are a living history - is it a great story? Christians can be a great story! They can build the history of a healing faith!! OHC is a place of healing faith.
Be the living history of a living faith! How do I build this history?
1) Faith in desperation
V11-14 - people in desperate circumstances - the only hope is God! Have you been there? Often it takes a crisis to get our attention
Crossing paths with Christ – Hospital - Sometimes that’s only time we meet Him
Faith believes He is “Jesus, Master” - Time of confession
Faith believes in His mercy and compassion and instruction - Luke 6:35 instructions - Make an offering for the healing - They were healed! They had to know this. How often do people take things for granted?
2) Faith in celebration
V14-16 - “he came back . . . ” What was he doing? Praising loudly!!
He was healed by the King and he had to sing!! He recognized his healing. Ours? Attitudes? Speech? Thinking? Even our physical healings
He had to thank God!! Have you had a significant thank God time in your life? I have good reason to celebrate! Worship! Honor and praise the King!
This prevents judging - forgetting grace!! Celebrate the salvation!!
What do you expect from God?
3) Faith with Expectation
V19 - Jesus commends this man’s faith and encourages his future – Arise – go - “faith has made you well” - can expect much from Christ!!
Live well - More abundant life - You have this faith
You know the Healer! You know the healing now lived as one healed! Free from sin!
Able to forgive! Courageous instead of discouraged! Expect to build a history of faith!
Yet you will still carry some same things - still a Samaritan
Conclusion
What would it look like if we all were building a living history of faith? Getting to the path of Jesus? Celebrating Him? Expecting and seeing life lived well! People going through life as the living history of a living faith!
