A Life Out of This World
Text: Romans 12:1-2
God offers you a life out of this world! His sacrifice - mercy, grace=joy, hope, purpose, direction. You can have a life that is out of this world! How? How do I have the life that is out of this world?1) Act out for mercy’s sake
V1 - “spiritual act of worship.” Rational service of a born again believer
A) The Gospel – God’s mercy - act out! Joy, thanks!
B) “Offer” to fully present yourself. Cross the line in the sand! I’m yours God! Like Isaiah - ”here am I Lord!”
C) Express this decision - Holy - Set apart - Like Noah! He acted out for mercy’s sake! David - a man after God’s own heart.
How? You have to come before God to do this! Here I am! All by flaws, failures, and foibles. I am at your service! You’ve submitted to God! Now you are on His team. In His family. Ready to serve Him in a great way an for a great cause!
You will discover a life out of this world! A cause and a purpose and a person to live for!!
2) Opt out of the world’s ways
V2 - ”Do not be conformed to the pattern” - We go against the flow! Cultural stream..
We drive, not the world! World wants to drive us to conformity - Values: Get all you can, busy is better, Love equals sex, natural-spiritual. We break the mold! We take the driver’s seat!
How? Transformed by the renewing of you mind - Truth - most of us are too busy to take time to think!
Think in the presence of God! Carve out the time when you can think! Your world, your circumstance. You will discover a great transformation! Out of the cocoon of conformity - into a life of beauty!
Shining for Jesus! God’s ways! Opting out and living out of this world!!
Speaking for God. The world has us figured out! Judgmental, hypocritical, legalistic - Instead of speaking, we are to be serving! We are about grace, mercy, kindness, and love.
3) Be about the Father’s will
V2 - ”Then you will be able..” - a person that acts out, opts out, will find out and be about God’s will!
Testing - means putting into the test tube of your life. APPLY God’s word to your life!
You are able to discern God’s will! The more you are in, the more you get out!
Approving - seeing that God’s will is GOOD! Live the good life! PLEASING! In God’s way and will it is satisfying! PERFECT! This is error free - things fit!
Proverbs 3:5-6 - Joshua at Jericho - The walls came down in a most unusual way! Be about God’s will! And you will live a life out of this world!
Conclusion
Maybe you can remember someone who provided something that was out of this world to you. I want you to realize today that God has provided for you to have a life that is out of this world! His great mercy! His wonderful sacrifice! His forgiveness and blessings are yours! Act out! Opt out! Be about! Have a life out of this world!
