My Life’s Work
What moves you? Will it make a difference?
As Christ Followers, we have a life’s work! The difference Christ Followers make is a difference of life or death!
Text: Matthew 28:16-20 - Point: We have a life’s work! We can make a difference! Make a disciple, make a difference! How do you make Disciples?
1) You move to the Risen Savior
V16-17 - Disciples were under great stress! Some doubted - Means “to stand in two ways” Peter on water - believed but was distracted by fear!
Is 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Move to Him, he will move you! Matthew 14:32
He will reassure you! V18 - His drawing power! The move makes a difference! He’s your Authority!
2) You move for the Risen Savior
V19-20 - “Therefore go” Jesus empowers His students with a clear cut mission and process. You are on a power trip!
Heb 12:2 – “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
You are Authorized. Christ empowers you!
A) Make Disciples - You can! Clear mission! This is it! How kingdom grows! Nothing can stop it!
B) Baptize - Teaching testimony!
Romans 6:4 – “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Trinity - Chronology-functionality - A first learning point
C) Teaching - Means to conduct oneself as a teacher
”Conviction is worthless unless it is converted into conduct.” - Thomas Carlyle
Dt 13:4 – “It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.”
We demonstrate the value of living Jesus’s commands - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you - Love one another! Love the Lord your God! We conduct ourselves as teachers! Life-love-prayer-serving
3) You move with the Risen Savior
V20 - “And surely…”
John 14:21 – “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."
Jesus is alive and well! Jesus is a present power! He will build His church! He will provide! He will move mountains. You are on a power team!
John 14:26 – “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
You live with assurance you are not alone!
Conclusion
Matthew 9:35-37 - The Lord has done it! It is finished! Let us go into the harvest fields! Can you imagine this? A disciple making a disciple and the difference that makes! You are the difference!
Song: Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water. Put your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea. Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently, by puttin’ your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee.
