Love One Another
Me - I believe in God’s love! I’m gullible and naïve because there is reality – God’s love is sometimes just words and not an action!
We - Have you ever been hurt by someone? Family, work, school, church!
There are millions of hurting people. John Maxwell said, "Hurting people hurt people and are easily hurt by people." How can OHC prevent and heal those that have been hurt?
God - God gives us the way to heal hurt and to prevent hurt. He teaches us the way to reveal the power of His love. Text: John 13:31-38 (note how Peter missed this charge) Point: Love One Another
You:
I) You have a command!
V34 - Love is an action!! To be exampled in the body of believers!! This is a work! It is a duty! A marching order!
Military requires people to follow commands. God gives us commands. You choose to obey, and to discipline yourself!
II) You have a model!
"as I have loved you" Look to Jesus for how to love! Stayed true to God! Was patient with disciples - willingly gave himself for the life of others! Look to Jesus! Feet washing! Follow his model of love!
III) You have an imperative
"you must" What are the musts in your life? What are the imperatives? Essentials for the body! We must love!! It is essential for the body.
”It is not how much you do, but how much Love you put into the doing that matters.” - Mother Teresa
The real essential element in growth is love!!
IV) You have a condition
"if" - if we love, then people will see we are Christians!
How many times are we judged by our actions, choices, and decisions? "That’s not Christian" is a statement you’ll hear. What condition are they seeing?
Love shows your true colors. Fighting families - people that are followers of Jesus’s love! They have the ministry of reconciliation! Peace makers! Not trouble makers!
Conclusion: We
The vision of a body of people that love one another? Live the process! Peter: bravado (John 13:36-38); denial (Mark 14:66-72); restoration (John 21:15-17). Will you love? The working bucket! Holds water! Is true and real!
